Terms and conditions

The rules covering this site, the Lab, kit orders, fabrication work and competition entry. Five separate relationships, so they are set out separately.

Last updated: not yet published

Not reviewed. Do not publish yet.

A draft structure, not reviewed by a lawyer. Terms create binding obligations, so the clauses below deliberately do not invent numbers, warranty periods or liability caps. Everything marked like this is a decision for you and your solicitor, not for me.

1. Who these terms are between

Between you and [registered legal entity name], of [registered address]. By using this site you accept them. They are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], with disputes heard in [courts].

2. Using the site and the Lab

The Lab tools — the parametric model, the circuit solver, the lidar surface — are provided for learning and estimation. They compute real arithmetic, but they are teaching instruments, not certified engineering software.

Do not rely on them for anything safety-critical. Verify any result that matters against a tool you trust and your own judgement. We are not liable for designs built from them.

You may not attempt to break, overload or extract data from the site, or use it to host or transmit anything unlawful.

3. Kits and orders

Whether this site sells directly or only takes enquiries is not yet decided, and this clause changes completely depending on which. Once settled it must cover: what forms a contract and when, price and tax handling, stock and substitution, lead times, delivery and risk of loss, and what happens when something arrives damaged.

Prices and specifications shown on the kit pages are placeholders and not offers.

4. Fabrication and consultancy

Figures produced by the quote estimator are indicative only, generated from the dimensions you enter. A binding quote is issued in writing after we have seen your files. Terms still to be settled: [deposit and payment schedule], [tolerance and acceptance criteria], [who owns the design and any tooling], and [what happens to your files after the job].

5. Competition entry

Entering a competition such as AIRENA-X carries its own rules, published on that competition's own page and taking precedence over this section where they differ. Still to be settled: [eligibility and minimum age], [team size and substitution], [who owns entries and any resulting IP], [media and likeness consent, which matters because entrants may be minors], [safety rules and disqualification], and [how prizes are awarded and taxed].

6. Intellectual property

The site's text, drawings, code and the Thornhallow world belong to [entity] unless stated otherwise. Fonts are used under the SIL Open Font Licence and are credited in LICENSES.md. You keep ownership of anything you send us; you grant us only the licence needed to respond to you or do the work.

7. Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Beyond that, the cap and the excluded categories are [to be set with legal advice] — deliberately not invented here, because an unenforceable cap is worse than none.

8. Changes

We may change these terms. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page. For work already commissioned, the terms in force when it was commissioned apply.
